Skalspel tränar synkroniseringen mellan höger och vänster hand, har positiv effekt på både tonbildning och precision i vänsterhanden och ger på sikt en större kontroll över instrumentet. Att öva in dem kan vara trist, men de är desto roligare att använda när man väl behärskar dem.

Jag vet jazzmusiker som inte kan en enda skala (i teorin) men spelar fantastiska solon ändå (på gehör).
