Biography:
Cristiano Porqueddu was born at Nuoro
(Sardinia, Italy) on 1975 and begun the
study of the classical guitar at the age of
seven, having his father as a teacher.
After graduating at the Conservatory
with the highest marks, he attended several
international courses and masterclasses,
with the most important musicians,
among which the guitarist composer
Angelo Gilardino. From 1997 to 2003 he
studied at the "Superior Academy of Music
'Perosi'" , where he achieved the Academic Diploma and the Virtuosity Diploma
with the score of excellence.
He was awarded many prizes in national and international competitions for
guitarists, such as:
• Concorso Nazionale "Giulio Rospigliosi", Pistoia, 1996 (First Prize)
• Concorso Internazionale Città di Taranto, Taranto, 1996 (First Prize and
special press prize)
• Concorso Internazionale Città di Mottola, Mottola, 1996 (First Prize)
• Concorso Europeo "Città di Barletta", 1997 (First Prize)
• Concorso Nazionale "Giulio Rospigliosi", 1998 (First Prize)
• Concorso Internazionale di Musica "Città di Brindisi" 1998 (First Prize)
• Torneo Internazionale di Musica (T.I.M.), 2000 (Second prize)
• Concorso Internazionale "De Bonis", Cosenza, 2000 (Third Prize)
• Concorso Internazionale di Lagonegro, 2002 (Third Prize)
• Concorso Internazionale "Città di Parma", 2002 (First Prize)
He is active as a concert player, performing for international festivals and
music seasons, in Italy and outside.
From 2006 he teaches in the "Guitar International Summerschool" held by
Angelo Gilardino.
He has recorded six CDs, which earned him a warm acknowledgement of the
reviewers.

Porqueddu lives and teaches at Nuoro ,where is the Artistic Director of the
"Associazione Musicare", which features concerts, festivals and the guitar
competition entitled to Agustin Barrios.
