Där är det dels cister (som Best väljer att översätta till "cyster" inte cittern, förmodligen eftersom han tycker det är ett lite annorlunda instrument än den cittern som brukar användas i brittisk folkmusik) och dels gitarr. I exemplet "Step forth thy god of night" ovan är det alltså helt vanlig gitarr.

När han har en hel musikgrupp kan det nog variera.

Med det ljudet måste det väl vara metallsträngar? I din film använder han nån typ av plektrum - gör man alltid det på cistern? Jag trodde att hela luta-familjen spelades med fingrarna. Det där instrumentet känns som nästan en mandolin :-)

Best kan nog tänkas spela ett antal olika typer av luta. Han har spelat musik av franska medeltidsspelmän med mera och Bellman är visserligen inte det mest moderna han gjort, men det mest moderna som han ägnat större ansträngningar åt. Här ett jättegammal skivomslag från början/mitten på 70-talet, innan han började spela Bellman. Vad nu det är för lut-varisort.
